During a five-month post-production stint in Kona, Hawaii, I was asked to consult on a PSA on human and sex trafficking for my native Fiji at the University of the Nations. The issue of human trafficking is becoming commonplace in Pacific nations.

That hit me hard… to know that the beautiful Pacific island nation I call home, steeped in reverence and tradition, was seeing this side of human greed and power—that a PSA had to be made to address it.

Despite having lived away from my homeland for so long, this issue weighs heavily on me. As a filmmaker and storyteller, advocacy is intrinsically woven through my work… and will continue to be.
